No. This is a relocation exploratory experience designed for people seriously researching whether Cuenca, Ecuador could realistically fit their future lifestyle or retirement goals. The focus is on: daily life, healthcare, neighborhoods, housing, cost of living, and real expat experiences.

Is Airfare Included?

No. Participants are responsible for booking their own flights to Cuenca, Ecuador. Additional details and airport guidance will be provided after acceptance into the program.

Is Hotel Accommodation Included?

We are currently exploring hotel partnership options for the experience. Final accommodation details and pricing will be shared with selected participants before booking opens.

What Age Group Is This Designed For?

This experience is primarily designed for: retirees, near-retirees, and adults researching long-term living abroad. Most participants will likely be between 50–75 years old.

Do I Need To Speak Spanish?

No. Many expats successfully live in Cuenca with limited Spanish. However, learning basic Spanish can greatly improve daily life and integration into the local culture.

Is Ecuador Safe?

Like any country, Ecuador has both safer and less safe areas. Cuenca is generally considered one of the more comfortable and popular cities for retirees in Ecuador due to: its climate, walkability, established expat community, and slower pace of life. During the experience, we will openly discuss both the positives and challenges of living in Ecuador.

Will There Be Free Time During The Experience?

Yes. While there will be structured activities and guided exploration, participants will also have personal time to: explore the city, relax, meet people, or revisit neighborhoods that interest them.

How Physically Demanding Is The Experience?

Most activities will involve moderate walking throughout Cuenca. Participants should be reasonably comfortable with: walking, stairs, and higher altitude conditions. Cuenca sits at approximately 8,400 feet (2,560 meters) above sea level.

What Happens After I Join The Interest List?
